Unfortunately, a lot of our work involves fixing problems that were established well prior to our client’s move to a new site or operation.    Whether by ignorance, neglect, or simply via the decisions of uninterested builders, architects, engineers or electricians, we see many energy installations designed and built to the long-term disadvantage of the ultimate end-user.

Often decisions regarding supply asset location, size, switchboard construction, switchboard location, metering point, tariff selection and other similar issues are made by those who have only a short-term interest in supply being established quickly.   Rushed decisions often ignore your evolving business needs, and result in costly changes and alterations being necessary long after the energy supply assets were originally designed and connected.

If you are looking to establish or upgrade an industrial or commercial operation at a new or existing site, Selectricity can help you quickly and efficiently determine exactly how much supply you require, and how much is currently available on-site.   We believe such essential issues should only be determined and negotiated with your long-term interests and ongoing operational costs and efficiency in mind.  With ever-changing regulations, such decisions should only be made after thorough analysis and with a complete understanding of the long-term implications and direct energy cost impacts.

We can  also provide independent representation when negotiating the establishment of increased supply capacity, tariff selection, contract demand and other issues that will directly influence your ongoing energy costs.

This service will ensure that supply upgrades or alterations are managed to your unique supply requirements.  Our aim is to not only reduce your up-front capital, but also ensure ongoing energy costs are minimised. By putting you in control, we secure the most efficient supply arrangement for your ongoing business needs.

We offer a complete solution, arranging both supply-side infrastructure, supply capacity, tariffs, governing contracts and retail supply.

This service is designed to cut thru tiresome bureaucracy and reduce the typical delays associated with dealing with energy monopolies. We are confident that we can add real value to your business during the stressful period of relocating, upgrading or establishing new energy supply infrastructure.

As we are an independent agent, and have no vested interest in the up-front or ongoing energy charges your company will pay the local energy network, we can be truly unbiased when representing your interests (and only your interests) with the local network monopoly.

Step 1 : Firstly, we establish exactly how much supply you require.  By referring to past bills, metering data, machine specifications and other key information, we ensure that only the right amount (no more - no less) is determined and negotiated.    As the new privatised energy networks are now more focused on receiving a commercial return for their capital outlay in establishing your supply capacity, this is an essential first step to reducing not only your establishment costs, but also ongoing energy bills.  If you ask for more capacity than you really need, you will then be obligated to pay for it.  We next establish the supply capacity available from the existing supply assets.

Step 2 : Once we have established the required supply capacity and how much is currently available, we then report to you and discuss your options.   Then, with your authority, we begin negotiations for the supply capacity.   Depending on the site, the complexity of the supply, and the local network's workload, this process can take some time.   During this process we act as your energy partner, ensuring you are kept informed and that your requirements shape and influence the resultant offer from the local network.

Srep 3 : We next provide advice on the best available network tariff for your electrical load.   This is something that should be investigated well before supply is actually connected, as once a bill is issued on the wrong tariff, it may not be possible to have it re-issued.   The selection of the network tariff should involve the customer.  All too often we have seen this important decision left to someone with little understanding of tariffs, with the inevitable problems only to be uncovered well too late.

Step 4 : The Contract Demand is an actual agreed level of supply that is specified in the network contract.  This item accounts for a large portion of your energy bill and should be  carefully managed.  It may even be appropriate to negotiate a lower level of demand than that ultimately required over the long-term, knowing that a supply upgrade is often a simple and low-cost project that can be easily performed if and when required.   All avenues of Demand Management and Power Factor Correction, should be explored before blindly finalising a contract demand.    This will ensure you are not locked in for a demand well above what could be achieved with simple and proven energy management strategies.

Step 5 : Once negotiations are complete, Selectricity is able to Project-Manage the supply solution to completion.   Our constant work in the energy industry allows us to consistently liase closely with key network personnel who are directly involved in the negotiation, design, construction and commissioning of new supply projects.   We can therefore eliminate any potential bureaucracy, and provide ready access to relevant information to ensure the project proceeds smoothly.
